Gab is back!

Gab is back!

Gab haters BTFO!  Gab was back online yesterday afternoon, and I am SO happy.  I really should have had more faith in Andrew Torba and the Gab team.  They found a friendly host, domain registrar and payment processor.  Now, some are claiming that Gab has gone back on its “free speech” thing because they’re asking users to report anything that violates their user guidelines, but I am pretty sure Gab has always had user guidelines.  They can only really be enforced when someone actually reports violations.  Gab is still a small start up.  They can’t afford to pay armies of moderators to comb through all the posts and find violations.  If users see something and don’t think it’s worth reporting, then…there isn’t much Gab can do about that, is there?

But that will probably change.  I don’t know how I feel about that.  I want Gab to be completely free speech.  Every time I see racist or anti-Semitic crap, I just mute it.  That’s what most users do – they see something offensive or objectionable, they mute the user.  I think one exception was lolicon, of which was banned by Gab.  Lolicon is…I think it’s anime drawings that are kind of pedophilic or something.  Some people are super butthurt that lolicon is no longer allowed on Gab.  I can understand banning something like lolicon, and yes, I know that it might not necessarily be illegal, but I can’t blame people for not wanting to accidentally see that.  Plus, I wouldn’t want that found in my browser’s cache.  Just saying.

Anyway, Gab hasn’t been online for a full 24 hours, so it’s a little slow right now.

But, welcome back, Gab.
